A label and  so much more

Its my life

History

Oppression

Pain

Happiness

Knowing who I am when I look in the mirror

Realizing how I’m viewed to the world

Seeing what men think and expect of me

Dealing with the stereotypes associated with me

Watching my brother’s and sister’s lives be taken away

Wondering am I next when I walk out the door

Having to prove myself

I just want respect, and to be given the same opportunity as my fellow peers

The best is when my own people deny me because “I’m not them”

What they think is what I am not

And knowing that is power within itself

Beauty of defeating them all, showing their wrong

Making my ancestors proud

The fact the slavery was ever okay, disgust me

People saying Nigga and Nigger makes me sad

How do they not know

Why the ignorance
